Southampton Football Club is a professional association football club based in Southampton, Hampshire.

Their home ground since 2001 has been St Mary's Stadium, before which they were based at The Dell. The club has been nicknamed "The Saints" since its inception in 1885 due to its history as a church football team, founded as St. Mary's Church of England Young Men's Association, and play in red and white shirts. Southampton has a long-standing rivalry with Portsmouth due to its close proximity and both cities' respective maritime history. Matches between the two sides are known as the South Coast derby.

The club has won the FA Cup once, in 1976, and their highest-ever league finish was second in the First Division in 1983–84. Southampton were relegated from the Premier League on 15 May 2005, ending 27 successive seasons of top-division football for the club. They returned after a seven-year absence, and have played there ever since.

A promising cameo from Moussa Djenepo against Liverpool FC! 🇲🇱

Hello management of this team , I'm junior I love your team, I'm a good attacker please sign me up

Start him next week, he would rip Brighton to pieces!

Yep, he looked decent - I still think we'll have a good season! 👍

I would love see 4 2 2 2 or 4 3 3 at brighton

Needs to stay on his feet more... Looks quite a soft touch that would go down under any challenge.....nippy player though..looked energetic

4-3-3 with adams behind ings, Or adams upfront with armstrong behind him, With MD on the right and NR on the left, We have pace we should be using it to our advantage not playing 3-5-2 or what ever formation we play 4-3-3 would suit us hands down

He looked very good since coming on very confident start him next week

😂😂😂😂😂😂

Yes he could do very well for us. Many criticising Ralph for not starting new signings but this is the premier league. Watching how the games played from the sidelines and getting involved in training is vital.

Play him from the start next week and bring in the new centre back too play them both

The coach must have the courage to put him among the 3 strikers in front of what is pleasing to all the first league

He done good looking forward to Brighton game

Too late in my opinion should of came on in the 50/60 min not leave it last minute!

Du courage djenepo

Du courage

شتي اولاد ناس الا ملعبتوش بوفال والله لدرتو شي لعبة

L entraîneur doit avoir le courage de le mettre parmi les 3 attaquants de devant il fera plaisir à toute la première league

Jenepo Se stars

Yes made in Mali💪💪🇲🇱

Start Moussa and Danso..

Gotta go for it against Brighton oh though I fear there Hoof long ball tactics will catch us out

No boufal no wining no enjoyment so no party there is something catastrophic

Start him v Brighton

Looked good. I thought he was going to roll all the way to the docks when mane fouled him though.

Take a look back at the key moments from Southampton FC's 2-1 defeat to Liverpool FC in the Premier League with our 90-second highlights package: ... See moreSee less

Highlights: Saints 1-2 Liverpool

Comment on Facebook

I am a Liverpool fan through and through however I am proud of the way the saints performed yesterday, well done guys ✅

As a LFC Fan i have to give your side a lot of Credit. You dominated the First half and a draw would have been a fair result. Our Individual Quality decided this Match, But you Can be Proud of your Boys. As a German I Can Tell you that you have a Great Coach that will manage the turnaround. All the best for the Rest of the Season!

Given the superb performances by our former players it showed how far we have fallen since their departure.

Even the greatest players can miss that. I think he is class and if we use him further forward he will be and is already awesome for us.

Lots of positives, for me when Armstrong came on he gives us more going forward in the midfield. We need him in the team

We have positives to take away from that game and know what we need to work on. We will be fine

I feel like our first win is just around the corner we need to take 3 points at Brighton with a good result

We deserved a point yesterday. Need to clean up those defensive areas and not give away free shots

I remember last season Ings missing an absolute sitter against Chelsea, how on earth did he miss today, sorry but I have my doubts about this man, we need another Lambert.

Says it all really! We need a miracle this year

Terrible defending that 2nd goal he danced across the box to the middle unchallenged. I We were gifted a goal so Ings thought he'd repay them but not scoring from 6 yards. £M20 we were ripped off. He'll be back on the injury list soon too I'm sure!!

Saints played well! If we kept the momentum from the first half and the last ten min throughout the whole match, we could have won!!

genuinely thought we would hit the ground running, even with a loss to liverpool i thought we would still have points on the board. Would they really let Kevin Danso leave on a loan if he was really that good. Another Steven Caulker!

Danny ings and che Adams need shooting lessons but apart from that against Liverpool well played 🙌🏼❤️

You have the best academy in Europe you have sold better players lovren, lallana,Luke shaw, and Virgil van Djik and many more hence your club is struggling do you ask why

How on earth did Liverpool manage to win the champions League title I thought they played not that good today and Southampton was very unlucky with some of the referees decisions maybe the referee is a scouser in disguise

Callum Luke Sargent newcastle havent spent over 100 million on players though and have only been back in the premier league for 2 years and have gone from a world class manager to a incompetent manager in steve bruce,And i dont think you can class burnley as a well established team to be fair they are not exactly world beaters are they,i cant really say i agree with your point to be honest its to early to judge any team as of yet

Some good positives too take from that game 👍

VG again at the back! Shipping goals...

Need to be more clinical, we say it every week This is the premier league You get chances like that you have to put them away

I actually cannot watch that miss again... how many chances do you get against Liverpool?! Frustrating is an understatement as I thought the team played well and deserved a point

Adams & Ings is not how I’d spend £35 million and not what I’d choose as a strike force for a premier league season🤦🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️

how the f*ck did Ings miss that at the end....?

Great save from Adrian at the beginning Matteo J Holmes

2 kali dah kalah ni..game ke 3 no excuse lg lawan brighton..pulun soton pulun

Good luck team for whole of season coyr xxxx love.u boys

Am I the only one that thinks we are just like we were last season where we struggled so much, lots of what if and we nearly scored and if only we got that goal!

Soo many mistakes Hope we bounce back WeMarchOn

Too many negative comments, yes we made a couple of mistakes and should have scored a couple but at least we battled and also had to play the ref, come on boys, 3 prs next week if you play like that

Who took the amazing throw in leading to the 2nd goal??

This kid is a friggin liability at the back. Needs to wise up a lot and very quickly.

shocking today valery

Shannen Lindsay

Okay you lost! But as a team you showed more passion then last season

Played well young valery

Remember Liverpool beat Barcelona 4-0, but they could put 2 past us. BTW loved the Danny Ings goal!!

Had a poor game today but he is a youngster learning on the job.

Really not sure what game you were watching the back line should give their wages to charity they were a disgrace

Cedric pls

He struggled today 😪 but back stronger next week

Focus on next match

Do the fans a favour and stand down til youre up to scratch

Just grab the 1st elusive win and others will come In quick succession COYS.

I blame Brexit

He was struggling.

Tunisia player ❤️✌️

Yan had a poor game😦

Tim Blunn your mate

Our fans are a bunch of wet tarts... 2nd game of the season against European champions... Way fans bang on we are in a relegation fight... Cringeworthy...
